Department of Surgery

AGU’s Department of Surgery provides comprehensive hands-on training and theoretical instruction in general surgery and other surgical specialties, including ENT and ophthalmology. The curriculum emphasizes core knowledge, technical skills and proficiency, surgical ethics, and sound clinical decision-making. Faculty members lead clinical rotations and actively contribute to research in surgical education and their respective subspecialties. Simulation-based training, conducted in collaboration with the university’s Simulation Unit, plays a central role in preparing students for real-world surgical challenges. This structured, learner-centered approach enhances procedural competence, clinical reasoning, and professional confidence, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for contemporary surgical practice.
