
President of the Arabian Gulf University Praises GCC’s Illustrious Record of Achievements

His Excellency Dr Saad bin Saud Al Fuhaid, President of the Arabian Gulf University (AGU), extended his highest congratulations and best wishes to Their Majesties and Highnesses, the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states, on the occasion of the 44th anniversary of the Council’s founding. Dr Al Fuhaid commended the remarkable qualitative achievements made by the GCC over more than four decades.
Dr Al Fuhaid affirmed that this occasion presents an opportunity to pay tribute to the wise vision of the late founding leaders, may Allah the Almighty have mercy on them, who laid the foundations of this esteemed entity on principles of fraternal solidarity, unity of destiny and shared history. He emphasised that the current leaders of the GCC states continue this blessed journey, steadfastly committed to strengthening the pillars of joint Gulf action and enhancing its gains.
The AGU President pointed out that, since its establishment, the university has served as a living model for Gulf cooperation in the field of higher education. He expressed his deep appreciation to the Kingdom of Bahrain for hosting the university, and valued the generous patronage and support it receives from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Dr Al Fuhaid noted that this support has contributed to consolidating the university’s status as a leading educational institution supporting the achievement of sustainable development goals.
Dr Al Fuhaid concluded his statement by saying: “As we mark this anniversary, we recall a journey distinguished by strategic cooperation and ambitious integration, which has established the GCC’s standing as a pioneering regional organisation looking to the future in a spirit of unity, drawing upon a rich legacy of solidarity and joint action. The founding of the Council was the fruit of a strategic vision rooted in belief in unity of purpose and destiny, and a commitment to advancing development and prosperity for the Arab Gulf states and their peoples.”
