The National Library at Isa Cultural Centre (ICC) has received a total of 1,329 Master's theses and Doctoral dissertations across various disciplines, generously donated by the Arabian Gulf University (AGU). This initiative exemplifies a strategic effort to support scientific research and enhance national academic content, reflecting AGU’s commitment to fostering the knowledge community and empowering researchers and students within the Kingdom of Bahrain.

This occasion was marked while Mr Mohamed Hasan Al Gharib, Acting Executive Director of ICC, received Ms Athraa Al Alawi, Director of the AGU Library and Learning Resources Centre, along with Mr Hussain Mohamed Al Fardan, Information Specialist (Supervisor of Technical Services and IT at the university’s library). The event took place in the Bahraini Publications Hall at the National Library, where the theses and dissertations were officially handed over.

Mr Al Gharib affirmed that “this initiative represents a significant step in strengthening the partnership between the Centre and academic and cultural institutions. It directly contributes to the development of the scientific research environment by supporting the efforts of the National Library to provide peer-reviewed, specialised scientific content that meets the needs of researchers and students, thereby elevating the level of national knowledge services.” He also commended AGU’s initiative in preserving national intellectual and scholarly output and making it accessible, both to the academic community and the broader public.

For her part, Ms Athraa Al Alawi expressed her gratitude and pride in this fruitful collaboration. She emphasised that “the Arabian Gulf University regards supporting the National Library’s scientific research outputs as a national duty that reflects its commitment to social responsibility, reinforcing the role of academic institutions as vital sources of knowledge creation and preservation.”

She added, “It is essential to establish a digital repository to preserve the nation’s intellectual output, ensuring sustainable access to knowledge and supporting future research, in line with Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 goals.”
