His Excellency Dr Saad bin Saud Al Fuhaid, President of the Arabian Gulf University (AGU), extended his deepest thanks and appreciation to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for graciously patronising the University’s 38th graduation ceremony, held last Sunday at the Exhibition World Bahrain in the presence of Lieutenant-General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, President of the Supreme Council of Health.

The event celebrated 218 graduates, including 179 doctors and 37 holders of postgraduate diplomas, master’s and doctoral degrees in various specialisations, underscoring the breadth of AGU’s academic programmes and their alignment with the needs of the Gulf labour market.

Addressing the ceremony, His Excellency Mr Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), affirmed that AGU stands as an advanced model of academic and scientific integration among GCC states and a beacon of joint Gulf higher-education progress. He hailed the University’s pivotal role in developing specialised and innovative disciplines required by the current stage, describing AGU as a regional exemplar of academic and research excellence.

Dr Al Fuhaid expressed gratitude to the Secretary General for attending the ceremony, considering his presence a significant moral boost for the graduates and a testament to the strong ties between AGU and the GCC General Secretariat. He also commended the Secretariat’s ongoing efforts to reinforce Gulf joint action, strengthen cooperation and integration among member states, and fulfil their peoples’ aspirations for development and prosperity.

The AGU President further thanked Lt. Gen. Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa and Dr Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Higher Education Council Board of Trustees, for their continued support of the University’s programmes.

Additionally, Lt. Gen. Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa presented certificates of excellence to high-achieving students across various disciplines, while Dr Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma conferred certificates upon the remaining graduates from the Colleges of Medicine and Health Sciences and of Graduate Studies.

The graduation of this new cohort reaffirms AGU’s regional mission to prepare Gulf talents capable of making meaningful contributions to the development of the health, education and wider socio-economic sectors in GCC countries, consolidating the University’s position as a leading academic institution in the region.
