
AGU Hosts Nursing Experts to Evaluate the BSc Nursing Programme and Ensure Alignment with Approved Academic Standards

The Arabian Gulf University (AGU) in Bahrain received a number of nursing experts from the Gulf to review and evaluate the curriculum of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing that the university launched at the beginning of the current academic year with enrolment of 250 students. The aim is to ensure that the program aligns with approved international academic and professional standards while presenting a future development plan.
The visit included extensive discussions on various aspects of the program, including theoretic and practical courses. The focus was how to enhance the program based on best practices. The experts reviewed the learning outcomes of the program, and presented their comments and developmental ideas to enhance the level of learning and skills acquired by students, in line with the requirements of the renewed labour market.
His Excellency the President of AGU, Dr Saad bin Saud Al Fuhaid, welcomed the consultants, expressing his confidence in the proposals and recommendations they will provide, given their extensive and varied expertise in the field of education. He said: "Continuing to progress the academic reputation and confidence that the university has earned internationally is an ongoing task that requires diligent efforts to attain desired goals in a manner that corresponds to the aspirations of the Gulf State leaders, the Ministers of Education and Higher Education, and the University's Board of Trustees, in order to realise the university's ambitious strategy."
He expressed his confidence in the outcomes of the BSc Nursing program as a strong academic program that aims to develop leadership capabilities and research skills among admitted students. It focuses on developing clinical skills, thus equipping students to assume leadership roles in the nursing profession upon graduation to the advancement of nursing practice through evidence-based research.
The Head of the BSc Nursing Program at AGU, Dr Hawazen Al Rawas, stressed the importance of benefiting from this visit in improving curricula and raising the level of academic performance of students, which contributes to graduating qualified nursing cadres that serve communities and meet the needs of the health sector in the region. Furthermore, the visiting experts expressed their sincere gratitude for the confidence granted to them by AGU and their selection to develop the BSc in Nursing Program. They emphasised the importance of the program and its expected role in meeting the needs of the Gulf community for qualified and competent nurses.
