Dr. Osman Ahmed earned his MBBS from Khartoum University in 2006 and began his academic career as a teaching assistant in Biochemistry. He completed his internship and worked at Khartoum’s leading diabetic center (2008–2012), earning an MSc in Medical Biochemistry while teaching metabolism and treating patients. In 2012, he joined Prof. Paolo Parini’s group at Karolinska Institutet, Sweden, where his PhD research led to a patented dual inhibitor of PCSK9 and ACAT2, co-founding Lipoprotein Research Stockholm AB. He defended his thesis in May 2019 and was awarded the prestigious Novo Nordisk Postdoctoral Fellowship, studying neural control of liver inflammation and metabolism with Prof. Peder Olofsson. His postdoctoral work yielded six publications so far, including in Nature Cardiovascular Research and Journal of Internal Medicine, and an invited talk at EASL 2022. In September 2024, he was appointed Assistant Professor of Medical Biochemistry at Arabian Gulf University, Bahrain.
