Family and Community Medicine

Welcome to the Department of Family and Community Medicine

The Department of Family and Community Medicine at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Arabian Gulf University, is dedicated to graduating modern general medical doctors who excel in patient-centered, family, and community-oriented clinical practice for GCC countries.  The strength of the department is rooted in a highly multidisciplinary faculty, including family physicians, public health doctors, biostatisticians/epidemiologists, and specialists, who provide comprehensive training both on campus and across community sites. The curriculum emphasizes integrating prevention, clinical care, and health promotion.  Students gain hands-on experience in developing research protocols and conducting community-based studies that address national health priorities. The educational journey includes the Year 6 Family Medicine Clerkship, an 8-week rotation where students apply clinical skills under supervision of family medicine consultants in various primary care sites. Additionally, the department offers a two-year Clinical Master in Family Medicine program, fostering advanced specialization in the field.
