Dr. Mahmoud is an Associate Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He received his PhD in Biochemistry from Washington State University/USA following a full scholarship awarded by the ministry of Higher Education in Jordan. Following his PhD, he trained in nuclear receptor pharmacology and drug discovery as a postdoctoral fellow at Duke University where he was granted a postdoctoral fellowship from the Department of Defense (DOD). Dr. Mahmoud's research integrates cell and animal based experimental model systems with epidemiologic methods to facilitate the comprehension of the role of dietary and lifestyle factors in disease progression and treatment. Recently, he has become interested in Medical Education especially of how lifestyle factors affect academic performance. His research has appeared in Journals like; Nature Reviews Urology, Cancer Research, Molecular Cancer Research and Biomolecules. He is a member of the Endocrine Society.
