
President of the Arabian Gulf University Congratulates the President of the United Arab Emirates on Eid Al Etihad

His Excellency Dr Saad bin Saud Al Fuhaid, President of the Arabian Gulf University (AGU), extended his heartfelt congratulations to His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, the esteemed rulers of the Emirates, and the Emirati people, including its students and graduates, on the occasion of the 53rd anniversary of Eid Al Etihad (Union Day). He affirmed that the UAE has become a model of solidarity and fraternity, both regionally and globally.
In a statement, the University President said: "Eid Al Etihad is a cherished occasion for all Gulf citizens, reflecting a historical legacy of unity and solidarity among the seven Emirates. The Emirati people, under wise leadership, have successfully built a thriving nation across various political, economic and social spheres.”
He further said that the UAE stands as a pioneering model of sustainable development and civilisational progress in the Gulf, commending the significant role it plays in enhancing Gulf, Arab, regional and international cooperation.
Dr Al Fuhaid remarked that this occasion represents an opportunity to reaffirm the commitment to advancing further cooperation among Gulf Arab states, particularly in higher education and scientific research. He cited AGU, which has contributed to strengthening academic ties with Emirati students since its establishment in 1980, praising the deep relationship the University shares with the UAE, which is committed to joint efforts for the advancement of the Gulf and Arab nations.
The President further underscored the University’s dedication to enhancing academic links with UAE educational institutions and supporting joint scientific and research initiatives aimed at developing educational programmes that benefit our Gulf and Arab communities.
He also praised the achievements of the Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Chair in Environmental Sciences, established in 1997 at AGU, which focuses on research concerning biodiversity and wildlife within the Desert and Arid Lands Science Programme.
“Eid Al Etihad represents an important historical moment, embodying the strength and determination that united the seven Emirates on a shared journey towards development and progress. This union has resulted in a leading nation across various fields, including education, economy, technology and culture,” Dr Al Fuhaid added while expressing hopes for continued progress and prosperity for the UAE, its wise leadership and its generous people, and affirming that the UAE will always remain a beacon of knowledge and innovation in the region and the world.
