Official Delegation from Siemens Healthineers Middle East and Wael Pharmacy Reviews Development of Diagnostic Radiology Department at UMC

An official delegation from Siemens Healthineers Middle East, headquartered in Dubai, UAE, and its agent in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Wael Pharmacy, visited the University Medical Centre (UMC) in King Abdullah Medical City to follow up on the progress of construction work for the development of the Diagnostic Radiology Department, to ensure compliance with construction standards within schedule. They were received by the CEO of UMC Dr Salman Hamad Al Zayani, and the Head of the Diagnostic Radiology Department, Consultant Musculoskeletal Radiologist, Dr Mai Ebrahim Mattar.

This cooperation between UMC and Siemens Healthineers, the leading company in the field of medical technology, and Wael Pharmacy aims will oversee the import of the first AI driven MRI and CT scan device to the Middle East, which supports the development of the Diagnostic Radiology Department’s services. This bolsters the diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities of UMC by employing the latest smart medical technologies to serve patients and visitors from the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Gulf States, in line with the strategic academic and health goals of Arabian Gulf University (AGU). 

Dr Salman Hamad Al Zayani stressed the keenness of UMC to develop its medical services by importing the latest diagnostic and therapeutic devices and attracting specialised medical personnel, which will optimise diagnosis and treatment for patients. The next phase will constitute an exceptional shift by updating various departments and specialties, according to the latest international specifications.

For her part, Ms Merih Erkovan, Head of Sales at Siemens Healthineers Middle East, stated, “We are proud to cooperate with UMC, affiliate of AGU, an academic hospital that upholds the highest medical standards.”
