
Dr Abdullah Ismail Awarded Master’s Degree in Surgical Education from Imperial College London

Dr Abdullah Ismail Mohammed, Assistant Professor at the Department of Surgery at the Arabian Gulf University (AGU), has been awarded a Master’s degree in Medical Education with a specialisation in Surgical Education from Imperial College London, which is ranked first in Europe and second globally according to the QS World University Rankings.
Dr Abdullah expressed his sincere appreciation and gratitude to the administration of AGU for sponsoring his studies in a prestigious global institution in the United Kingdom to pursue this groundbreaking specialisation, which is the first of its kind in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the region. He also commended the university’s commitment to supporting diligent Gulf personnel striving for knowledge and education.
The title of Dr Abdullah’s Master’s thesis was “Learning Medicine in English and Practising it in Arabic: The Experience of Emerging Surgeons in the Kingdom of Bahrain in Obtaining Consent for Surgical Procedures”.
It is noteworthy that Dr Abdullah Ismail Mohammed is a consultant in General and Diabetic Foot Surgery at the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Medical City. He obtained his Fellowship in London in 2023 and graduated from AGU’s College of Medicine in 2011. He also received the Saudi Board in General Surgery in 2019 and became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2016, in addition to holding an Advanced Diploma in Wound Care from the University of Toronto, Canada, in 2020. He is also a lecturer in advanced trauma and injury management courses, having delivered some of these courses in London under the umbrella of the Royal College of Surgeons of England as well as in Bahrain.
