Director of AGU Centre for Community Service Participates in 29th Meeting of Committee of Community Service Deans in Gulf States

Dr Afaf Bugawa, Director of the Arabian Gulf University (AGU) Community Service, Consultation, Training, and Continuing Education Centre, participated in the 29th Meeting of the Committee of Community Service Deans at Universities and Higher Education Institutions in the Gulf. The meeting, which took place remotely, was hosted by Kuwait University in the State of Kuwait.

During the meeting, participants addressed several key topics aimed at enhancing the role of community service centres in skill development, individual empowerment, and strengthening partnerships between universities and Gulf communities. Recent initiatives in continuing education, training, and social responsibility were also reviewed, all contributing to sustainable development in alignment with the vision of the Gulf Cooperation Council. 

The meeting's objectives included fostering cooperation and the exchange of expertise among Gulf universities in community service and exploring new initiatives to address future challenges to promote a developmental movement. The meeting was chaired by Dr Hamed Sulaiman Al Furaih, the Secretary-General of the Committee, along with his role as the Vice President for Academic Support Services for Community Service and Libraries. Representatives from various universities across the Gulf were also in attendance.

Dr Bugawa emphasised the significance of collaborative efforts among Gulf universities in advancing community service programs. She highlighted AGU's commitment to delivering quality initiatives that cater to the needs of Gulf communities and contribute to building national capacities.

The meeting concluded with several recommendations aimed at enhancing integration among community service centres in the Gulf, strengthening their role in addressing societal challenges, and improving the effectiveness of training and educational programs.
