Arabian Gulf University (AGU) celebrated Saudi Founding Day through a national event organised in partnership with the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the Kingdom of Bahrain, reaffirming the deep fraternal ties among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and highlighting the pride of Saudi students in their nation’s rich history spanning three centuries.

On this occasion, His Excellency Dr Saad bin Saud Al Fuhaid, President of AGU, extended his highest congratulations to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and to His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He commended the Kingdom’s remarkable developmental transformations, which have strengthened its regional and global presence, reinforced national identity, and inspired future generations to continue the journey of progress and prosperity.

His Excellency also highlighted the profound historical significance of this national occasion, which reflects the continuity of the Saudi state since its establishment by the late Imam Mohammed bin Saud and the enduring principles that laid the foundations of a modern state with a strong and influential presence in the Gulf and Arab regions. He noted that Founding Day recalls these deep-rooted foundations and embodies the Kingdom’s journey in building a comprehensive development model centred on human empowerment, economic diversification, and the advancement of knowledge and innovation.

Furthermore, he emphasised the University’s deep appreciation for the continuous support it has received from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since its establishment, noting that this support has played a pivotal role in the development of its specialised academic programmes, strengthened its regional academic standing, and reinforced research partnerships with higher education institutions across the Kingdom. This reflects Saudi Arabia’s leading role in supporting education, scientific research, and community service.

The celebration witnessed wide participation from academic and administrative staff, as well as students from various GCC countries. The University’s garden was adorned with Saudi flags and visuals depicting key milestones in the establishment of the Saudi state, creating a vibrant atmosphere that reflected the spirit of unity and stability rooted in the Kingdom’s history.

The programme featured a variety of segments, including presentations highlighting the journey of the Kingdom’s founding, alongside student contributions expressing pride in Saudi identity and introducing elements of cultural heritage such as traditional attire and popular cuisine.

Saudi students affirmed that celebrating Founding Day represents a cherished national occasion that recalls a rich legacy of unity and achievements. They noted that the participation of their peers from across the GCC embodies the spirit of solidarity and brotherhood within the University community. They also expressed their appreciation for the University’s commitment to supporting Gulf-focused initiatives and strengthening the values of belonging and shared cultural identity, contributing to enhanced historical awareness and deeper cooperation among the peoples of the region.
