Dr. Reem Al-Zahrani, a researcher specializing in molecular medicine at Arabian Gulf University, participated as a speaker at the Fourth International Conference on Infectious Diseases and Antimicrobial Resistance (IDMAR), held in London, with the participation of a select group of international experts, researchers, and speakers in the fields of infectious diseases and public health.

Her participation was based on one of her recently published research papers, in which she delivered a lecture highlighting success stories in both the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Kingdom of Bahrain regarding the implementation of human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination programs, reviewing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s experience since 2022, and the Kingdom of Bahrain’s experience since 2023.

The lecture addressed the positive impact of these national programs on promoting women’s health and preventing cervical cancer, emphasizing the importance of adopting evidence-based preventive health policies and the role of immunization programs in reducing diseases associated with the human papillomavirus.

Al-Zahrani expressed her pride in participating in this international scientific forum, noting that presenting the Gulf region’s successful experiences to a select group of specialists represents an opportunity to exchange expertise and highlight the health achievements made by countries in the region in the field of preventive health, thereby contributing to strengthening international cooperation and supporting initiatives aimed at cancer prevention and improving the quality of health care.
