Arabian Gulf University (AGU) has announced the launch of a new identity for its University Medical Centre (UMC), marking a strategic step towards establishing an advanced health and academic model at both national and regional levels.

The ceremony was attended by prominent health and academic leaders in Bahrain, headed by His Excellency Lieutenant General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health.

During the event, Dr Saad bin Saud Al Fuhaid, President of AGU, affirmed that this new identity reflects the culmination of numerous developmental initiatives, most notable the enhancement of the Diagnostic Radiology Department with cutting-edge medical devices and artificial intelligence-supported technologies aligned with international standards. These advancements aim to improve diagnostic accuracy, elevate healthcare quality, promote medical innovation, and support both therapeutic and educational processes.

In addition, the hospital introduced a specialised laboratory to advance the diagnosis of balance disorders, keeping pace with the latest global medical developments. The expansion also included upgrades to the fertility and reproductive medicine unit, the integration of modern lung function measurement devices, and the deployment of an advanced surgical laser device, one of the most effective tools available in urology, along with a suite of other state-of-the-art medical technologies.

This phase of identity renewal has placed strong emphasis on enhancing patient experience and elevating the quality of healthcare services. A 24-hour pharmacy was launched to better serve patients, ensuring continuous access to essential medication.

On his part, Dr Shaher bin Dhafer Al Shehri, CEO of UMC, stated that the new identity embodies AGU’s vision to promote sustainable development in health services and medical education while consolidating UMC’s position as a reference for specialised health care, education and scientific research. He highlighted UMC’s ongoing efforts to attract top consultant physicians from Bahrain and the Gulf region in support of preparing and qualifying health professionals aligned with the broader aspirations of the national and regional health sectors.
