Dr Adel Bouhoula, Head of the Information Technology Department at the Arab Gulf University (AGU), has joined the scientific committee for the 34th International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI 2025), to be held in Montreal, Canada, from August 16-22, 2025. His participation involves reviewing and judging research papers submitted to the conference.
IJCAI, established in 1969, is one of the most prestigious and longest-running conferences in the field of artificial intelligence. Its last edition attracted approximately eight thousand research papers from around the world. Classified as an A* conference, IJCAI is highly selective, accepting less than 7.66% of submitted papers.
Dr Bouhoula's invitation to the scientific committee reflects AGU's academic excellence and its significant contributions to the field of artificial intelligence. His own recent research paper, presenting a novel technique for designing secure and reliable systems across various vital sectors, was accepted into the last IJCAI conference. This further elevates the university's research in this crucial area.
In related news, AGU launched a pioneering Master's programme in Next-Generation Computing last September, combining artificial intelligence and cybersecurity to meet the growing demands of the job market. A specialised diploma in Next-Generation Cybersecurity, focusing on the latest AI technologies, will also be launched soon.
Dr Bouhoula emphasised the pivotal role of AI in enhancing cybersecurity capabilities, enabling the understanding and analysis of hacker methodologies for proactive threat detection and mitigation of sophisticated cyberattacks.
"Through these programmes, AGU aims to equip national cadres with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively address the increasing challenges in cybersecurity, solidifying its position as a leading regional center for research and development in this strategic field.
